Hi All,
My web host's tools have been glitchy lately. That's why all my news posts have sucked. T_T The program that provide to edit my SQL Databases has been terrible lately and not letting me do anything of use. My new posts haven't been showing up and everything.
So I'm going to have to code my own Post Manager so I can clean and keep track of my posts without having to rely on their buggy software. Expect the site to cleanup sometime this week.
Sorry for the inconveneince,
-Jinroh.
Hi everyone I'll delete these last posts later, I'm getting ready for my first day at my new job! Yaay! I haven't been able to have time to fix the normal mapping post so here it is fixed and reposted. ^^ Have a good day!
Hi All, I just finished Normal Mapping into Inari3D last night. It looks great. ^^ It'll look even better when I take a shot of it with full lighting and everything. I'll talk a little about what normal mapping is though for those of you who aren't familiar. Normal Mapping is a form of Bump Mapping which basically adds detail where there is none.
Textures in a 3D game are just flat pictures. They may look detailed, but don't have any depth to them. Normal Maps are a special kind of texture that is overlayed onto the flat texture and give it the appearance of depth. Take a look at this screenshot for the comparison and you can see why Normal Mapping will definitely help the visuals of my Inari3D Engine. You can see the one using Normal Mapping looks much better like it is an actual brick wall whereas the one without normal mapping just looks pretty flat. My implementation should be supported by most video cards so you should have no problem running it on your system. ^^
Have a good week,
-Jinroh.

Other than that I'll keep you updated on all the news. I post on my
more frequently than here, so if you're a nut about following our latest actions then check me out on there. ^_^
Hi all, the Top 5 survival horror list has come to a close, but this week will start the Top 5 FPS games. ^_^
I'm still progressing very much on the game engine and it's almost time to start the game itself. I'm putting in Real-Time Shadows at the moment so it'll look even nicer than it does now.
Richie's been working on the soundtrack to the game too and it's coming along great. He's recently bought a new keyboard that supports MIDI out so we can have some sweet 80s synth effects in our soundtrack now. I'm really looking forward to hearing what he comes up with.
We're both really stoked about my engine, his soundtrack, and the upcoming game. I'll definitely be posting some screenshots of the engine soon, and trust me, you won't be disappointed. ^_^
Have a good day,

Survival Horror Top 5 - Number 1
By:
Jinroh#1 Killer7
The final game in our top 5 is finally here. It's been a fun ride this
week writing about some of the favorite games in my collection. This
one is an oddball of sorts and is probably coming out of left field, but
I feel that it deserves the number one spot. That may be the case
because it's no secret that I'm a big fan of the creator, Goichi Suda
(aka Suda51).
In my opinion Suda51 is a great designer, even if he is a little
eccentric. Whereas most smaller Japanese companies are cranking
out (mostly) forgettable JRPGs, he's always pushing to do what's
different. He defines the Punk Mentality and brings it to the gaming
industry. He always has some kind of commentary about the social or
political realm and uses a lot of allusion, personification, etc. in his
games. He's just like a well educated author, but a bit more immature.
Description
I could talk about the greatness of Goichi Suda all day, but we're here
to talk about the game,
Killer7. Now you may not think
Survival Horror when you think of Killer7. It is however a survival
horror game with a really good pick up and play gameplay style and
really twisted and grotesque everything, and a great story.
Killer7 is about a guy who's an assassin, Suda51 likes assassins, and
he has 7 different personalities that reside within him. This guy's
name is Harman Smith, and he's an old man in a wheel chair. So he
doesn't really do a lot of the assassinating, but he's the ring leader of
sorts. He delegates the assassin jobs to "The Cleaner" and resident
badass, Garcian Smith. Garcian is a bit like Shaft as he's kind of the
negotiator, detective, and boss of the other 6 personalities. He's the
goto guy and the only of the 7 personalities that can speak directly
with Harman Smith.
The real thing about this game is that it turns your preconceptions
about reality and how things are and completely throws them out the
window. It uses a lot of shock value, cheap scares, and the art style
and just abstract nature of the game really mess with your
sensibilities. The enemies of this game are called, Heaven Smiles,
members of a cult that are really quite mad. The people who are
infected and become Heaven Smiles become very diverse monster-
like creatures that basically suicide bomb anything they touch. During
the game you'll hear their deranged laughter more times than you'll
hear your newborn baby cry. When you hear it they'll rush you and if
you're not fast with the trigger you will get hurt. Sometimes you can't
tell where exactly they're coming from until it's too late. It gets pretty
intense.
Thankfully for us good guys they have a weakness. If you use your
special Assassin vision we'll call it, you can find a weak spot that will
give them an instant death. Sometimes these yellow spots on their
bodies are quite large, making them an easy kill or sometimes they're
really tiny and hard to hit even with great aim. It's all about skill baby.
When you do kill them you get their blood to heal yourself or upgrade
your abilities. Yes, that's right all 7 members of the Smith Syndicate
are able to be upgraded pseudo-RPG style. It's very nice.
The plot is large, diverse, intense, amusing, and just plance
confusing at times. I beat the game, and I'm not sure if I got the true
ending or not but I was a little confused at the end. The plot is so
cryptic and massive that you could probably write your college thesis
to examine everything within it. It's good too, you always want to brave
the fear of the Heaven Smiles to find out what happens next because
it's always new, different, and interesting. Not your usual stuff.
Why it's on the list:
I'm running out of room and leaving out a lot of details, but I hope I've
spurned you to go play it yourself for either the PS2 or the
GameCube. I'd recommend the GameCube version because it's a
little better, but if you can't get it then get the PS2 one. It's a game,
with a huge story, scary moments, grotesque enemies, and just
always keep you off guard from feeling comfortable. It creates a
perfect atmosphere to horrify you with how macabre most of the
game is. It's not for Children definitely, but if you enjoy a good
macabre experience and a good story, then by all means play it!

Survival Horror Top 5 - Number 2
By:
Jinroh#2 DOOM 3
This game, I waited to play for so, so long. I even had to go out to the store and buy a $90 graphics card just so I could play it on the familiy computer. I bought it at Sam's Club, and it was awesome because I could pick up the graphics card and the game there. It was pretty awesome too, because the game came in the old style boxes. You konw, those huge ones we used to buy our games in. Yeah those cool ones before they switched to streamlined packaging to save shelf space.
I took the game home and installed it, while it was installing I couldn't help but look at the Baron of Hell on the cover and think how awesome it looked. It was like Organic and Demonic and just plain cool. I was pumped. I looked through the packaging some more while it was installing. I saw the infamous warning in there. That the game is not for the faint of heart and that it is a terrifying horror experience. To keep my lights off and my sound system turned up to eleven! Oh yeah! I was pumped.
Description:
I booted up the game and got through the intro screens and finally the title screen. Mars was shown to me in a really awesome way and the theme song kicked in and oh yeah I was ready. I started a new game and little did I know this game was going to be awesome. The levels, the characters, the lighting, everything was leaps and bounds above what I was used to. The game is dark man, you can't use your flashlight and your gun so it's kinda claustrophobic at times because you hears something and you know if you switch to your flashlight you'll be vulnerable.
The game does do a lot of cheap scares, monster in the closet, like the old DooMs, but it's ok. It also in addition creates a great atmosphere to scare the crap out of you. I did find it annoying though that the monsters teleport in there and most of the time get a free hit on you. That's kinda lame, but you press on, it kills your health a bit and makes you feel more vulnerable. Doom 3 is a near perfect survival horror experience and if it had a bit stronger story and would have been a bit less cheap at times it'd be perfect. I'd give it a perfect score everytime, though it's not the top of the list. One of the reasons it's not is due to it's gameplay mechanics being a little old fashioned. Basically it's a prettied up version of a keyhunt which isn't all bad, but you have to flip a switch or find ID Permissions for your PDA most of the time so you can open a door and progress. So it's a little backwards but still works just fine.

Image used under non-profit fair use from unknown source.
Why it's on the list:
Doom3 is on the list because it makes a terrifying survival horror experience that almost can't be beat. It creates a chilling atmosphere that is both claustrophobic, but enthralling at the same time. Like a Siren singing a sweet song to lure you to your death. You'll play it and want to cry or curl up into the fetal position, but there's that part of you that wants to see what lies beyond the darkness. Go for it, envision your victory enshrouded in darkness. It only missed the #1 mark because it's narrative isn't very strong. It's the usual FPS fare and what we've come to expect from DooM. That's not a bad thing, just not very engrossing, though the first person perspective makes you feel right in the action.

I'll put up the original Doom 3 box and such tomorrow, I have to dig it out of a box in my storage.
Whether you're an FPS fan or a Survival Horror fan there's something for either of you so don't miss out on the great adventure that is Doom3.

Survival Horror Top 5 - Number 3
By:
Jinroh#3 Resident Evil
Description:
Resident Evil 1 is next on my list for best Survival Horror games. Why the first instead of Resident Evil 2? Good question. I would argue that Resident
Evil 2 is a better game technically. The graphics are great and make me amazed that the technology to do such morphing and things was available in
the mid-90s. I don't remember seeing anything that advanced in other games at the time. However I still stick by judgment that Resident Evil 1 is my
pick for the best of the RE series in my collection.
Image used under non-profit fair use from unknown source.
Why it's on the list:
Anyway, let me delve into some more of why I think it's the best in my collection. The first thing that strikes you when you start up the game is the small
cinematic of live action Chris getting killed. This sets the tone for the entire game quite well. The live action intro is legendary by this point and I like it,
despite it's campy B-Movie style. The intro done in full in-game cutscenes is next and really sets things up. The setting of the game is an old mansion
and its outlying places. There's a sense of claustrophobia and uneasiness that you feel through the game here. If you've never played a Resident Evil
game before you're not sure what to expect. The game has you explore a piece of the house, and you're fully expecting to experience things. When you experience the first monster it's in a memorable way, gorging itself on the flesh of one of your comrades. After that, the sense of unknown
and claustrophobia takes over as you explore more of the house. Strange messages are left for you, and weird things are abound. Cheap scares and
puzzles greet you from time to time and always keep you guessing. Add all this to the plot filled with intrigue and deception and you have an
enthralling experience. More and more as you explore the house and its outlying facilities you meet creatures that are more and more grotesque. All
these things bring together to help you feel the claustrophobic horror and uncertainty you'll feel the first time through the game. It's a very memorable
experience.
I really like this game and can't play it enough. I've played through it bunches of times and can still go through and walk those hallowed halls. On top
of that, the GameCube remake is even creepier and heartstopping than the original. It's great! So great, that I bought three iterations of the first
Resident Evil game.
Resident Evil Director's Cut Dual Shock Edition
Resident Evil (REMake)
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
This concludes the segment on where Resident Evil falls on my Top 5 best Survival Horror games list.
Catch you later!

Survival Horror Top 5 - Number 4
By:
Jinroh#4 Dementium: The Ward
When I heard that a group of DS programmers that were made up of
some of the previous members of Acclaim's Turok the Dinosaur
team from the N64 days I was interested. The developer Renegade
kid has never ceased to amaze what they can do on the DS and
teaming up with GameCock they gave us their first outing,
Dementium: The Ward.
Dementium: The Ward is an important survival horror FPS on the DS.
Yes it's an FPS, but ammo's kinda rare and you're really trying more
to survive and solve (rudimentary) puzzles rather than just flat out
blasting everything. It's a great game, and even though I don't have
the sequel yet, on my to get list.
Description:
Dementium: The Ward is a one of a kind DS game for its time. You
are a patient at a hospital and you wake up one day and find that
everything has gone to hell. You're the only human left here.
Everything else is populated by zombies, monsters, and creepy little
girls. There are clues and touch screen puzzles to be found and you
have a handy little notebook to write things down in.
The game is played from a first person perspective with very good
lighting effects. You have a flashlight at all times and it is very well
done. The flashlight is very reminiscent of Doom3's flashlight, but you
can actually use it as a weapon. The graphics in the game are great,
the lighting is top notch and the atmosphere is perfect. The only
downside here is that to make room for the CPU cycles that the great
lighting takes up the level design had to be sacrificed. The levels
themselves are good for the location they mimick the corridors of a
hospital and are generally flat and bland. Just like a hospital. So it
works to improve the fact that you're in a hospital, but at the same
time, kinda boring since there's not much variety in the level design.
You will go outside sometimes and it'll be raining and such which is a
nice change, but it's still flat corridors you're walking down.

Image borrowed under non-profit fair use from Kotaku.com
Why it's on the list:
Dementium: The Ward was a pioneer of sorts for 3rd Party DS
games. Before Dementium, there were few 3rd Party DS titles that
tried to push the system. There are a few more now, but Dementium
really paved the way with great lighting effects and the great minds
from the former Turok team. It's a solid Survival Horror FPS and you
should play through it at least once just to ogle the graphics and
interesting story and atmosphere.
If you need a new DS game and you're tired of Resident Evil: Deadly Silence then it's worth the price of admission. ^_^

Survival Horror Top 5 List - Number 5
By:
Jinroh#5 Carrier
Description:
Coming in a #5 on my Top 5 Survival horror games is Carrier, a Sega Dreamcast game. Carrier is a survival horror game of the future. You are a futuristic police officer on, well, an aircraft carrier of the future. There is, however, a problem that arises. One of the two warring factions of the future bombed an island releasing an evil organism that causes people to mutate. The Carrier comes under fire when the ravenous organism infects the crew members and turns them into monsters. The carrier is on a collision course and with nobody to drive it, it's up to you to figure out what to do. It's actually a throwback to the turbulent times in the world when the game was made in the 1998s, and people still say that video games don't teach us anything.
Image borrowed under non-profit fair use from IGN.com.
This game is basically a Resident Evil clone down to the fixed camera angles and tank controls. The graphics are pretty good, it's a Dreamcast game after all, and has some semi-decent voice acting. It's a pretty good game, but still kinda average. I got stuck partway through the game but it may have been due to a bug which is quite common in Dreamcast game sadly. My Sonic Adventure copy suffers from a crippling bug as well. T_T Worth noting is that the game uses real time rendered polygons for everything, no pre-rendered backdrops in this game. Which was something most survival horror games weren't doing at the time.
Why's it on the list?:
Basically it's on the list because it's a decent enough game, not stellar but decent enough. Since I can only pick one from each series (so the entire list isn't made up of Resident Evil games) I have a limited selection to choose from. So Carrier is the worst of my eligable titles, thus it comes in at #5. It's not terrible, just comes up short.
Conclusion:
If you're a Dreamcast fan and you've played most of the other survival horror games it'll be a good addition to your library even if it is just average. ^_^
If you can hear it, you're already dead!
Stay tuned for tomorrow's entry!

At Doom's Gate.
By:
JinrohGutentag!
For all of those that don't follow my Twitter here's a checklist of stuff that's happened and coming up.
- I've been playing a lot of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and been getting better. MUCH BETTER. Hehe. 250BP so far! ^o^
- I've been coding a lot and finishing up the rendering engine for Inari3D. So by the end of this coming week I should be on track for starting a game for the RPGDX.NET upcoming Alternate History Contest to test Inari3D. Either that or just start making a game for my own sake. ^o^
- During that time of this upcoming week I should have some screens and possibly a video if my PC will let me record without tons of lag for your viewing pleasure. ^_^
If you play Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom drop me a line in the comments box and let me know your friend code. I'll post my friend code here in the next day or so. I NEED MORE RIVALS! WHOO!
In closing let us say a little prayer to the gaming gods for giving us such a great game. The game called, DooM. I'm a big DooM fan and I was very fortunate back in 2007 for being able to obtain a boxed copy of DooM for my Super Nintendo. Here it is, please bear in mind though that my camera screwed up the colours a bit so it looks somewhat off. Legit none-the-less. ^_^
Awesome right, I love it, except for the no save feature. It's fun to play every now and again. ^_^ It keeps my SNES young.
I'm out for now though got more Inari3D work to do,

NECA Chun-Li Review Part 1
By:
JinrohHey all!
Over the past two weeks I've been looking for a NECA Chun-Li around my area. She was in wave 2 of the SF4 Figures and kinda hard to find around here as most of the toy stores were limited or have closed up shop. We only have 2 Toys 'R Us's. Neither of them had Chun-Li or the Original Coloured Ken. They're my two favorite characters. I finally found her at the movie store in the figure section near the Anime/Manga.
Anyway, this is part one of my thoughts on Chun-Li so it can be quick. I didn't take her out of the box yet, so these are just my thoughts based on the packaging and such.
Paint:
--------
All the paint looks great the detailing on her face, paint on her Qipao top, legs, arms, etc. all looks nice and clean. No globbing or sloppy application at first sight.
Sculpt:
----------
Her sculpt is great, very big and detailed, I like it. It looks like SF4 Chun-Li from when I used to play down at the arcade. Her clothes are detailed. Her face is nicely sculpted as are her hair buns they even have the fabric ties that hang down as in the games. Nice. Her hands are the only thing I had a problem with as she has man hands. NECA saved some money I suppose re-using the mold from most of the male hands. She does have her custom 'V' for victory hand pose and has 5 interchangable hands. She has very VERY many points of articulation 31 to be precise so I'm looking forward to putting her in her game poses like Kikoken when she's out of the box.

Her face, she's pretty, just a little wide eyed. ^_^

Her Masculine Hands.
The Box:
-------------
The box itself looks pretty nice I like it, clean and well designed. It's a standard action figure box, but it has some nice Chun-Li art on it. It also has a pic of her sculpt with no paint and some bio facts about her which is always a nice addition.
Overall judging by the packaging she looks pretty solid. ^_^ She's well proportioned compared to her SF4 self so that's a plus. She's not the prettiest Chun-Li I've seen, but she's solid. I'll report more once I open her up. ^_^

Please note that her blue clothes appear much lighter due to my camera. The figure has the usual Chun-Li blue not this lighter cyan colour in person. ^_^
That's all for now. I'll have some new game news for you later. If you're not following me on Twitter you can do check out the latest updates there.
Ciao!
-Jinroh.

Shopping!
By:
JinrohHello Everyone!
I'm working on the game like gangbusters now, but also shopping! Shopping, you say, yes, I am. I'm shopping around for online distribution sites. So far I've looked at Big Fish Games and others so far. Not sure who I'll go with yet though.
As far as the game itself, I'm working pretty good on it. It's relatively close to being feature complete believe it or not. Then there's the art, which'll take probably the most time, and Richie's got the music covered so no worries there. We're trying to really make this game awesome so you guys should really enjoy it. It'll be fun and have great replay value for you and your friends.
Keep an eye out!

Small Update
By:
JinrohFirst off, for those of you living in the U.S.A. happy 4th of July. For those of you living elsewhere, 'Hello!'.
Anyway, I just finished moving last week it was a tiring week so not much got done. However I'm back on track and after hanging out with Richie last week we decided what our next project will be.
I can't spill the beans yet, but once I finish up the basic coding here you'll get to see. The game is about somebody we know and love here at JinrohDev so take a guess. ^^ I've got this character running around my test level now, and I'm coding more and more now that I'm less tired from moving.
This new game is being targeted at the iPhone, but don't rule out a cheap PC verion either. Additionally since Richie and Nik both support the Android Phone there may be a port for that later on too. Today's a busy day though so I'm out for now. I'll keep you posted. ^_^
Have a Barbecue!

Clean it up with Otacomic #3
By:
JinrohHey Guyz!
I'm moving in two days! Whoo...today was a pretty good day. My wife and I went and saw Toy Story 3 today and it was pretty good. Brought back the nostalgia of when I was a kid and had a really well planned and epic plot. The best thing that will come out of this is that new toys are released so I can replace the old Buzz Lightyear I had back when I was a kid. I wanna get the most epic deluxe one I can get. It would be great if there as an option to make him speak Spanish also. ^_^ Buzz Lightyear es muy magnifico!
In addition to that I finished the next comic which is actually the last of the two I had made scripts for back in 2008. This one's pretty funny I think but it's kinda a tad on the side of Dark Comedy. I like that kind of stuff like Invader Zim or Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is famous for, but I think mine's vague enough to be fun for everyone. ^_^
Hope you enjoyed it. I'm all outta ideas for new comics for the moment, but I'll post more as soon as I write some more scripts. Lemme know what you think. ^_^
Catch you later,

Subjectively Creepy.
By:
JinrohHey all!
Busy week for me since I'm moving but done a lot of cool coding. I've been working on a really great animation handler for the combat system. It's all very simple and very precise as the same time. No more of the old archaeic animation systems like I had in previous games, this one's a totally new ball game. ^_^ Your combat will be very precise and very nice looking to say the least. ^o^ I've added a few more moves since last time and it's looking pretty good. I should have the new animation handler finished by tonight and then I can code some simple combat based on the moves I created now. I've made plenty of moves for my demo character so I'm going to show Richie when I get back and we'll come up with any changes that need to be made to the combat system. ^_^ It's still early, but looking great.
In the meantime here's a challenge for you. I've uploaded a screenshot of my best score at Uncle Jessup's Lawn Bowling see if you can beat or match the score. ^_^ Let me know if you do, can anybody beat me that's what I wanna find out! ^o^
I'm out for now you have your assignment. ^o^

Kids Can Be Mean. >_<
By:
JinrohHey everybody!
I thought today I'd give you something that I actually made myself! OMG RIGHT?! Yeah. So I made Episode 2 of my Otacomic...comic. This one's pretty funny and based on one of two scripts I wrote back in 2008. I think it's pretty funny and the art style is much better than my first one because I didn't just freehand in paint. ^o^ Lemme know what you think of it with the comments section! Thanks guys!
You may recognize the character as Lil' Billy from my School Maze game, he's a cool kid so I like to use him whenever I can. ^_^
As for the game, the basic combat stuff is coming along nicely. Not sure exactly what the combat is going to be like yet, but I have general stuff like block, move, and jump in there so we're getting pretty good.
Have a good day,
-Jinroh

Epic Yarn, is Epic.
By:
JinrohKIRBY: EPIC YARN
Something that has been bothering me during this E3 is that people are knocking the name Epic Yarn. I think it's clever and anybody with a somewhat decent grasp of the English language would realize that duality of the word Yarn. It can refer literally to yarn as in what you knit with or it can be synonomous with a story or tale. So it dually refers to Kirby's Epic story and the game's use of Yarn. This I find very witty and clever and few people seem to get it. Ugh...
Sadly even James Rolfe who I just think is great complains about it and I thought he would be smart enough to get it, but it could have just been for his AVGN character. I dunno, but UGH!! I hope I'm not the only one who gets it.
Anyway, 3DS looks to be coming out around March 2011 so yaay! Save your pennies kids! I'm out for now!
Onto the Subject of stuff I'm doing well. Even though I was packing stuff to move today I actually added stuff to do in the demo. Yeah! I'm not a terribly good designer so I was talking to Richie yesterday and we're going to meet up after I get back so I wanna have some playable idea of my vision for my game here. So that we can both go over it and kind of tweak it as necessary. I'm getting an iPhone soon so I'm looking at that platform. The combat should be finished at least in the basic sense by the time I get back. So we'll test it out and see what is good and what needs changed. Right now you can move around and do a couple moves pretty basic, but it's a big improvement what 1 hour of coding can do. ^o^ The game would be perfect for your Android, iPhone, or even DS so I'll keep you posted.
To leave you with something to occupy yourselves, watch Awesome Video Games Episode 1. It's a great little web series that is just upbeat and fun. These guys are pretty hilarious and you should be great fans of them like me. ^_^ Enjoy!
Later days!

*Beep Beep* Reboot!
By:
JinrohBesides the 3DS, what am I still excited about? Mortal Kombat 9. When I woke up today I saw the footage on Screwattack.com. I was blown away, at the "reboot". Ed Boon says it's basically Mortal Kombat 1-3 all put into one awesome game. The fatalities are back and look better than the previous 3D games. The 2D plane fighting is also back and things couldn't be better.
(WARNING NOT FOR THE CHILDREN OR FAINT OF HEART!)
I really finalized all the demo character's animations for my game yesterday and I'm putting them in today. Yaay! How about that.
I'm out for now though so enjoy the new footage of MK9 and don't throw up on your keyboards. ^o^

Flawless Victory.
By:
JinrohThe circle is once again complete. Nintendo is once again the belle of the ball at E3. They blew the hell out of everyone with everything and most of all the 3DS. I said it was gonna be epic and it totally is. Throw away your PSP and your DSs. The 3DS is going to be backward compatible with DS/DSi games and has a ton of great and BIG titles on the way for it as well. Resident Evil, Street Fighter IV, DOA, Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, Starfox. Damn, Nintendo hit the jackpot here.
The 3DS will be getting a remake of not just Starfox 64 but also Ocarina of Time. These are updated remakes and OOT looks better already, but who's to say how much they're going to remake them. I'll buy them again I bought Super Mario 64 DS so I'll definitely be at least buying Starfox 64 considering it's a good possibility they'll put in Online Multiplayer.
Both look very nice. I'll definitely be buying this updated Starfox and I can't wait to see what more is in store for us on the 3DS. For more info about the 3DS you can log onto Nintendo's 3DS E3 site or IGN DS.
Additionally the new Kid Icarus Uprising looks great too. Very stylish and the gameplay looks fast and furious. Kind of like maybe Sin & Punishment-like. Very cool. Very nice graphics too very Wii-like. ^o^ I'll definitely be getting Super Street Fighter IV for the 3DS too, I can carry around the arcade in my pocket!
Regarding my game I spent the day yesterday doing art. It's coming along good, I just wanted to make one complete character for the demo. After that I can plunge head first into the combat and we'll be good. ^_^ I spent the morning at the arcade today too, and got 3rd place in the rankings for Guilty Gear XX. My high score for Street Fighter IV still stands, but after playing one round today I broke the machine. >_< That was a bummer.
I'm out for now, have a good E3!

Street Fighteeeeeeer!
By:
JinrohYeah that's right, I set a new personal record by getting the high score on Street Fighter IV today at the arcade. I was on fire, with one credit beat the game and got the #1 high score spot. Two people challenged me from the machine on the other side of me and got crushed, I felt bad because I beat them so easy, but I had a high score to get. ^_^
Most people at the arcade use Sagat because he's a bit overpowered in the Arcade version. Nobody used him today though. People real good with Sagat are cheap too. I got beat the other day when I was using Chun-Li, but they were cheap as hell. Oh well they played to their OP Sagat strengths so can't blame them. They know how to block and counter in the right places. I haven't looked at any guides or anything cuz I don't wanna ruin the fun of learning all the new stuff myself. It's like the 90's again.
I also got to play Guilty Gear one of my other favorite fighting games. Bridget is my favorite GG character and I wanted to share this artwork I bought of her (yes I know Bridget is a boy, but he was raised as a girl so I call him a her. ^_^) at a convention a few years ago.
Anyway, onto game news. I found a great little program for using a 2D Skeleton to animate 2D Sprites. It works great, but haven't gotten the hang of it though. I'm using it to make some of the 2D Sprites for the next game.
In addition to that I'm really working on making the input system great so all your cool fighting moves and attacks will be able to be executed precisely. The next game's going to be an action adventure so you'll need them. ^^
Anyway I'm out for now.

More Game News!
By:
JinrohHi All!
The Animated 3D Model stuff is finished, and we're ready to start playing around with some game stuff. The big news isn't about Inari3D though.
In May 2010 last month a new Medarots game was released for the NintendoDS! It would be great if it was released in the western part of the world. It has an interesting new art style but also seems to have a classic version of each as well. Confirmed Medarots that I can see in the magazine look like, Metabee, Rokusho, Peppercat, and Dr. Bokchoy. Hopefully we can see Crosserdog, Cyandog, and Foxuno as well.
Additionally to that the lawsuit between 3D Realms and Take-Two Interactive has been settled. Will we see Duke Nukem Forever sometime in the future, maybe, maybe not. Break out your Tarot Deck and see if it's in the cards!
Not much else to say so I'll go for now!

MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAT!
By:
JinrohTest your might, test your might.
Ok, enough of that. You can tell what I'm really excited about today. Which is Moral Kombat coming in 2011. After that movie teaser footage thing which was discovered as a pitch to a movie studio. Warner Bros. Game Studio and Ed Boon announce that a new Mortal Kombat game will be out in 2011! It seems like the movie pitch and the game are unrelated though, oh well good timing anyway.
Destructoid has a the reveal trailer up on their site but I'll just put it up here for ya'll.
The trailer is pretty awesome. They're basically rebooting the whole series and just calling this game, Mortal Kombat and to me it looks like a 3D Version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, which isn't a bad thing.
When my brother used to have his sports practice at the community center in our town I used to hang out in the arcade place they had there. It was great cuz they had a Mortal Kombat 3 and Primal Rage machine. So me and a fistful of quarters would brave the digital adventures of Outworld and Prehistoric times. Great stuff, between Street Fighter IV, Tasunoku vs. Capcom, and now MK it's been a good couple of years for fighting games. Ah it's almost like it's the 90s again. ^_^
On the game front I got the animated model stuff working so we're good there. Working on some other graphical stuff atm so I'll post some screens of the new model system in action soon. ^_^
I'm out for now!

You've been down too long in the midnight sea.
By:
JinrohHey guys!
Not dead, just been busy. I'm moving in a few weeks so I've been pre-occupied. Though I have been coding. Putting the finishing touches on the animated model stuff for the engine. So we can have nice 3D models instead of just billboards. ^_^ I'm really hell bent on getting this ready to start making a game by the time I move so I've been working like crazy.
Other than that some new stuff has cropped up here. My dear brother has updated his site with a few more comics since I last announced that he did. So check them out, the lastest one has a ghostly platypus!
Other than that E3 starts next week and I'm totally stoked. I'm expecting big things from Nintendo about the 3DS, new Zelda, and though it's farfetched maybe a new Starfox. We can only hope right? Found some interesting news today about Telltale games beginning to make both a Jurassic Park game and a Back to the Future game. The latter being released this winter. I've always loved Jurassic Park (and Jurassic Park games) and I can't wait to see what Telltale does with it.
And to leave you with something to think about, during the summer of 2009 I started coding a little demo for the Atari 2600 and didn't finish it yet. I'll return to it someday, but I was starting to code a 2600 of the great NES game Holy Diver. I got as far as doing the title screen and translating some graphics over to the 2600. The 2600 being a limited console it took quite a bit to get this much as you have to be very careful about CPU cycles and the like. I think it looks great though considering I drew it all by hand.
Anyway, catch you later!

Curse You Wandering Minstrels
By:
JinrohHey all!
It's daytime now, and I've gotten some stuff done for the engine. I've been putting in the AI Building Blocks like Wandering, Following a Path, and other stuff. They'll be great to combine with other stuff to make some complex AI routines. So expect some cool AI to fight against during the course of the game. Coupled with the scripting system the game will be pretty darn rad. ^_^
To bring up an old piece of JinrohDev history from a few months ago here's the School Maze trailer. It is posted on our JinrohDev Youtube Account, but it's not too easy to find on Youtube. So I've got it here on the site for you. I made it all by hand in a short time so it's not perfect. Expect the next game's trailer to be more rad, though this is a pretty good one too. I like the hand drawn Lil' Billy stuff I did, but the gameplay recording is total crap.

Catch you all later, time to get some food,

Carpe Noctem!
By:
JinrohHey all, Carpe Noctem!
That's Latin for, 'Sieze the Night!'. I prefer the night over the day it's just less intrusive. ^o^ No big bright sun shining in your face. Anyway, today I worked more on the engine and integrating JinrohScript with the current state of things. I have basic character movement in there and could work on game specific things, but I'm not sure yet what game I wanna work on. So I'm generalizing with is good anyway. The scripting system will open up so much more possibilities than I've been able to do in previous games. So I went through and started listing all the features that I'd like to have available through scripting so I and the level designers can have as much freedom as possible. Additionally I moved some code around to avoid code redundancy in the future.
Trying to kill my productivity is my current hunger to re-install one of my favorite CRPGs, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Hands down, one of the best games I ever played. I bought it Black Friday 2004 IIRC and have loved it ever since. It's an Action RPG that follows the universe of Vampire the Masquerade that White Wolf has created many moons ago. To the game's benefit it runs on the Source Engine created by Valve which gives it many interesting qualities. The game has a massive storyline where basiclly, you being a newly sired vampire are cast unguided (mostly) into the vampire culture of L.A. known as the Camarilla. You're not quite unguided as everybody has something they want you to do. There's a some fetch quests, but a lot of gold beyond that. The dialogue is great and though the game was very buggy when it was first released, it's much better now due to Official and Fan Patches to enhance it. Fans have also restored unused parts of the story and added in unused items to further your gaming enjoyment. So it's epic, to use an overused word, and you should definitely play it if you like, vampires, CRPGs, or just awesome games. It's $20 on Steam.
During the game you'll encounter Beckett, he's a vampire, and probably my favorite character in the game. He's awesome and look cool too, I won't tell you why as to not ruin the awesome surprises, but definitely you'll encounter him if you play it. ^_^
I'm out for now,
-Jinroh

Brawlin'
By:
JinrohHey guys!
Got some new game stuff done today. All the basic character movement and collision is done now (hooray!) now I can start coding other stuff. Not sure what I wanna do next though. I think I'm going to integrate my scripting system in there so I can do lots of cool scripted stuff.
JinrohScript is my scripting system and it is really quite well made. I developed it in 2008 around the summertime and It is a great language that you'll probably be able to use someday to mod some of our games. ^o^ It supports a lot of good stuff and it'll be nice for making things like cutscenes. ^_^
On an off-topic note, I bought Super Smash Bros. Brawl I rather like it though the camera seems to be a little off to me. Either that or I'm getting too old and can't keep up with the action anymore. ^o^ I like it though the Story Mode that they added is pretty cool IMO it's challenging and the cutscenes are pretty rad. I like it. I'm going to make a gaming section for those of you with DSs or Wiis so Richie and I can share our friend codes with you all. I don't have any friend codes atm, since I don't have Wifi, but in a month I will so I'll post them then.
In the meantime you can check out my Brawl Card. Level me up guys! ^_^ Post yours in the comments too if you want to share it. Mario Kart Licenses are cool too as I have Mario Kart Wii also. ^_^
Catch you later,
-Jinroh.

These are turbulent times in the land of the Dunmer.
By:
JinrohHey all!
If you're in the USA Happy Memorial Day! Get ready to goto the Swimming Pool! Whoo! Summer's almost here.
Anyway, been coding today, not as much progress as yesterday, but some good stuff. Mostly restructuring the code a little bit and starting to write game specific stuff for characters and the like. So I'll be adding more and more stuff.
On a JinrohDev related note, Richie and Nik have been working diligently on their side project, it's called, Metal Ward. It's a website they're setting up to make reviews and articles for the different less commercial side of Metal. So you can get info and their take on stuff that you wouldn't normally get from mainstream mags and other media outlets. It's killer. Check out Richie's Top # lists like Albums, Bands, and the like.
Leaving you with something to occupy you until the next update I have a little side project I was working on in Fall 2008. It's an Interactive Fiction engine I was working on for Web based FanFics. I was working on an editor for it, I may do it again, it would be cool to have interactive fanfics on the site.
I wrote this story myself for some contest or something, and was going to enter, but never finished due to switching jobs at the time. If you like it or have your own story you wanna make into an IF let me know and I'll help you out.
Anyway, I'm out for now, have fun!

All the world's an engine.
By:
JinrohHey all guess what!
The basic engine is basically done! Yep, that's right. It's Sunday, 3AM, and it's just about finished. I finished the collision detection between objects and the level today and it's smoking fast. Oh yeah.
Here's our good friend Marty Mallow hanging out in the test level. There's not going to be a Marty Mallow game, he's just a place holder until I rig up some of my 3D models. I have a 3D model of everyone here at JinrohDev (and my awesome brother) EXCEPT ME!
That's right I never made a 3D model of myself so that's something I have to do on my todo list which is very long at this point. ^o^
Anyway, I hope you like the shot, Marty can collide and move about the level just like a regular commercial 3D game all smooth and collision perfect and the like. I'd show you a video, but CamStudio records like crap on my PC so it's out of the question for now. T_T
Anyway, I'll keep plugging away for our new game so stay tuned!!!

Where is that update?!
By:
JinrohHey All!
It's Saturday night and I'm coding away on Inari3D. Collision is a bit of a pain, but I'm getting it done. I'm trying to make it as fast as I can due to the platform. Other than that not much else is going on.
Richie has gotten the new updated Lashur site up for his Video Game music stuff. Check it out!
Additionally my own brother has updated his webcomic called, Ned's Noggin! It's funny and a story arc that should turn out to be interesting and hilarious. Go check it out too!
I'm working on this engine and once I have collision finished I can start working on the game stuff so I'm anxious to finish it up. ^o^ I'll post a vid of my nice engine once I'm done with the collision. It looks quite nice now, but you can walk through stuff. >_<
In the spirit of giving you something to look at in the meantime as I always do, here's some box shots taken with my camera which unfortunately has a glare from the flash, but still looks nice. These are some box shots from the one of two Game Gear games that I have, Sonic Drift 2 it's a Sonic racing game in the same vein of Mario Kart, but using a Pole Position styled game engine. It's a fun game but really hard for me, but that could be because it plays half-broken on my half-broken Game Gear. ^o^
The game features cool graphics and lots of Sonic characters. My personal favorite to play as is Fang the Sniper (Knack the Weasel) because I always thought he was a cool looking character. He doesn't drive too badly either. The racing AI is kinda cheap, I'll be in the lead or something and Tails or Knuckles will totally throw me off track and I'll get like last or something. Kind of a pain, but not unlike the cheapness of Mario Kart these past few years.
I think it's kinda funny that Knuckles has a Hummer here it's kinda interesting. Sorry for the glare, but you can see all the racers. Fang looks pretty awesome. ^o^
Kinda boring just a box shot of the front. You can't see the '2' real well, but you get the idea. One thing I noticed here is though Fang is in like a hovercar, why does he have to be upside down? Strange right. ^O^ It's a cool game and if you are into the Game Gear I'd recommend picking it up over the first Sonic Drift.
I'm out for now! Have fun!
Jinroh.

Nightly Update!
By:
JinrohHey all!
Good progress on the engine today, in theory at least. Literally! I was implementing the final tasks, and they were ok, but not quite as fast as I wanted. So I re-tooled and deviated from the traditional math perfect methods to some Helter Skelter (NMH REFERENCE ALERT!) approximate ways that should get the job done just fine.
Everything's coming along and I snagged a nice free video player for the site so it'll be nice to actually usse it. Additionally I'm thinking about setting up a forum soon, so drop me a comment if you're interested.
So now for your nightly entertainment. Since I gave you the Game Gear yesterday, I'll give you something else today. I made this comic over the summer (Summer 2009) and thought it would be funny to try making a comic in German because my German is terrible. ^o^ (No Offense to German speakers) So I hope you get a chuckle or two from my broken German Comic! It was made using the Homestar Runner Stinkoman Comic Maker. Long name. >_>
Gives me a bit of a chuckle when I read it because it's so bad. Hehe. If you happen to be looking for a stellar not broken German comic to read then head over to my awesome brother's site, at Ned's Noggin for some laughs a plenty. He's even got the new one for this week up! Stick around here too though. ^o^
Anyway, have a good evening,
-Jinroh

All the colours of an update.
By:
JinrohHi all!
Since I try to give some kind of update everyday, here's an update. I had a long work day today, but manage to get a little coding done on Inari3D. It's coming along and I'm finishing up one task before I can show you anything worth looking at, which is a walk-around demo. ^o^ Hopefully I can get that beaten this week for you guys. I'll post a vid or something once I'm done on the Inari3D page.
To leave you with something somewhat interesting to look at I'll show you my Magic Knight Rayearth Sega Game Gear sound good? Good.
I rather like this Game Gear since it's not the same matte black as all the rest. It's kind of broken though so I must fix it. I'm gonna see if I can enlist the help of my brother to LED mod it too. I have to crack it open once I'm done moving and see what is exactly wrong with it. Once it's LED modded too it'll last like 8 hours or so on those AAs! Amazing what switching from a florescent bulb to some LEDs will do. Anyway here it is.

I like it, it's red and white and has Mokona on it which is cool. It's much more festive than a usual Game Gear which is nice. ^_^
Anyway, I'm going to sleep, have a good day!

Registration Issues
By:
JinrohIf you have been experiencing registration issues the past few days, they have been fixed!
There was a problem with the Database, but it has been fixed so go ahead and register. I'd love your comments. ^_^
To make up for all the registration trouble here's a comic I made for the website Strife Strips Strife strips was a comic that was made with the famous BUILD Engine by Ken Silverman. Later on 3 episodes of a web cartoon were made and they were awesome. Too bad it was cancelled. T_T
Anyway, now you can see my Strip I made for the website here. It's funnier than the last one I showed you. (Which is why I saved it. Kekekeke)

Have a good evening,

Happy B-Day Pac-Man
By:
JinrohIt's Pac-Man's 30th Birthday today and Google has made a great JavaScript rendition of Pac-Man in a Google logo!
I discovered it Friday Night at 6PM, and was like yes. My Dad was a Pac-Man Champ back in the day and inspired me to make my game Wolf Pac.
It's great that the Google game has Co-Op so my wife and I can play and get the awesome score! Our best score so far is below.

The fact that it has intermission cutscenes is great too. ^_^
Anyway, happy Pac-Day!

NMH Too?!
By:
JinrohHey everybody!
I promised you a No More Heroes update today as well, but I don't know if you're going to like it. ^o^
Before that though, I've been working on Inari3DGL today and made a lot of progress. My complex model loader is done! Hooray so now I can load the levels and complex models. So I'm gonna start on the walk around demo I promised you. We'll see how fast I can get it out. ^_^
Onto business, a long time ago, like 2 years ago, I had the plan to do an MS Paint Oekaki web comic. Well I did one and it didn't go over so well. I thought it was amusing, but I guess it would be most amusing to people who have played NMH. So that's probably limited it's appeal.
Anyway, without further Mountain Dew, here's Otacomic #1 - Beach Time Fun!

This comic is about the battle with Holly Summers which is pretty cool, but involves a lot psuedo-luck on Travi's part as he falls into sink holes, and gets thrown up in the air from grenades. He's fighting right next to the ocean and how is Beam Katana doesn't get wet and short out is beyond me. He's just a lucky guy. Anyway, hope you enjoy it. I have a few more comics to show you another week so enjoy this one for now! ^_^
Time for Dinner!

Quiz or Die!
By:
JinrohGuess what true believers!
Today was a brutal day again, so no coding updates. Haha. That's not why my enthusiasm is coming and speaking to you in these words though!
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Goichi Suda. He's a genius. He made Shining Soul II amazing instead of just meh like Shining Soul I, and Killer7, No More Heroes 1/2, and Flower, Sun, And Rain are masterpieces.
So I'm here to inform you that if you are on Twitter or Facebook, follow Grasshopper Manufacter and Goichi Suda because each Friday starting this Friday, May 21st until June 25th, Grasshopper will be asking questions each Friday! What are these questions you ask? Simple, trivia about Grasshopper Manufacture and No More Heroes! OMG!
Winners will be entered into a prize drawing!

More Info Can Be Found Here.
You just know I'll be entering. ^_^
-Jinroh
P.S. I'll have another NMH related update for you tomorrow. Mwuhaha.

R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio
By:
JinrohSadly Ronnie James Dio has passed away the great metal singer who replaced Ozzy as the lead singer of Black Sabbath and created the great song Holy Diver. It was so popular in fact there was even a Japanese game made about it. The game is awesome too. He'll be missed.
Anyway, you may have noticed that there is a new project link on the side there to your right. I decided that probably since I'm going to work on the space game engine some more and make a game out of it, there should be a project page. Look for the page itself in the next few days.
I've been working on the NintendoDS and OpenGL versions of Inari3D as of late I've almost finished the level loader for both and I'm trying to get you guys a walk around demo ASAP. Tomorrow's my most brutal work day tomorrow so not tomorrow. ^o^
I went searching for Transformers today and came up meh...all I could find were Revenge of the Fallen figures which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I was hoping to find some TF: Animated and some TF: Universe as well.
I did see Revenge of the Fallen Ravage which I want because he's just so cool, but where I was looking was a little more expensive than the usual $12.99 so I held off til I can find one the normal price.

He sure looks awesome though.
I'm gonna get going to bed though, bid day tomorrow.

Inari3D Update
By:
JinrohThank God it's Friday.
Anyway, there's a nice update to Inari3D I finished the camera system and it's ready to start making game code for! All right!
I'm working on a small billboarded sprite walking around a 3D level demo for everyone. So expect that soon enough. In the meantime check out this nice perspective correct texture mapping with crappy u/v mapping. ^o^
Anyway, catch you all later,

Personally I voted for Dinobot, though I expect most people to vote for Soundwave. Not that I don't love Soundwave or G1 Transformers in general, but Dinobot was my favorite from Beast Wars and an overall awesome character.
In addition to that the rest of the 4 Inductees are Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream. So that would give us at least one that's not a G1 Transformer. So think about that hehe.
Anyway, I'm out...
Have a good one,

Hello Inari3D.
By:
JinrohSmall update time!
Today off to your left you may notice a new link replacing Jinroh3D. Yes, Jinroh3D has been "shelved" atm but do not fear, Inari3D has taken it's place. J3D was too ambitious for me atm so I have replaced it with it's more managable brother, Inari3D.
Inari3D is an engine I was coding concurrently with Jinroh3D so they're both software 3D engines. Inari3D is just more fitting with my current KISS mantra that you may have noticed me applying lately. Anyway, the next few weeks I'll be working on some demos with I3D and will post some screens and such later on.
Have a good day,
-Jinroh

It's Tech Demo Time!
By:
JinrohHey all!
This week I coded Space Game Tech Demo after coding a really fast Mode7 Software demo for the GBA. First I coded a C/SDL version of the Space part and then ported it to the GBA. The C/SDL version took very little time, maybe an hour or two but the GBA one took a little longer as I had to get more accustomed to some of the quirks of the machine.
My friend Ryan Speets and I were talking about Starfox (my favorite Nintendo Series) and I got inspired to make a little space demo on the GBA for fun. My 3D skills have gotten a lot better over the years so it was a breeze to do this simple 3D. The only drag is that the rotation is wonky on the GBA compared to the PC due to some problem with my fixed point math library. It's the exact same code as the PC except the GBA one uses fixed point for faster calculations. I should be able to fix it in the future by simply bumping it up from 8.8 fixed point to 16.16 for more precision. It may also be underflow/overflow related but investigation and testing will see. Though if I do make a game it probably won't be a GBA one so no biggie.

I plan on using it for a game so expect it to mature in the future. ^_^
Download and Enjoy it!
Additionally, my brother updated his webcomic website and you can check the latest one out here at Ned's Noggin

Mode7 Demo Update
By:
JinrohHey Hey It's Wednesday!
I've been updating like crazy lately and for good reason. Today I did a little more work and found my Mode7 GBA Demo was compiling as C++ instead of C so after I switched it over, it runs much faster! Oh yeah.
I was perplexed that it ran so SLOWLY because my code was so fast. So all you whiners about framerate here's your field day.
On the other sidelines, I did some more work on the new little engine I made for space and it's quite nice. I'll show it off soon. I'm taking a little breather from J3D to express my creativity so don't worry about it though. Only good things will come of it.
I'm out for now, but check out my brother's awesome site which is almost finished its 3rd Revamp this year. Ned's Noggin

Bite Sized Update
By:
JinrohHowdy,
Got some good stuff done today. Firstly I found and added the JinrohDev GBA intro I found lying around my hard drive to my latest demo! It even includes sound for your aural pleasure.
Next, I've been working on a little side project a space game that I had an idea for waaaay back like 5 years ago, when I was in Psychology class. Thanks to my friend Ryan Speets for talking with me about Starfox (My favorite Nintendo series) and helping me get motivated.
Lastly, I did some more J3D work today and got a more complex level loaded and just have a little bit more work to do and complex levels will be fine and dandy. ^_^
That's all for now,
Jinroh

Purplesaurus Rex
By:
JinrohHi all!
I really want some purplesaurus rex. >_> Maybe I'll buy some Lemonade and Grape Kool-Aid and mix them together! Yeah!
Anyway, after work today I was annoyed with whining about framerates in yesterday's demo. So I went back to the code and said, "OK For these Whiners, what can I optimize." So I went back in and did all the optimizations I could. No more divides and Shifts were added where they could be.
That's about all the optimization I can do without re-coding it in ASM so sorry. ^o^ I may go back and re-code it for Mode4 later, but we'll see.
I am toying around with re-writing J3D as all fixed point and porting a solid shaded version to Mode5 which would play on Mode5's strengths much more than a Mode7 Style Floormapper. I should be able to get much better framerate from that.
Anyway, I'm out for now. You can download a new version that has been optimized here.
See you later,
-Jinroh

Old GBA Project
By:
JinrohHi all,
Random news time! J3D is still on track and I'm doing everything solid shaded until all the kinks are worked out. The PVS is now more versatile and just as fast as before! How about that.
Today I got inspired to finish up an GBA demo I was working on a while back, I wanted to try scaling and rotating Mode5 to fill the whole screen. The only thing I could think of at the time was porting my software Mode7 Demo to the GBA so I did.

Now Mode5 rotated is nowhere near optimal for doing a Mode7 demo so bear that in mind when you try the demo. The framerate is so-so and the graphics look crappy since I had to scale them down so I could shove the huge map picture into RAM. Other than that it's not bad. ^_^
All you complaining people, complaining about the framerate. This was not supposed to be a playable game. This is a demo of Mode5 Rotation/Scaling and the only thing I could think of to write was a software Mode7. Mode5 Scaled/Rotated makes Mode7 less efficient as it maps what should be horizontal lines to vertical lines instead. Additionally this whole thing was written all by my code. That means it does not use the video hardware to do the effect like on the SNES or Mario Kart GBA. It does it all with my math which is slower than using the hardware. It's a good test of "how fast can I make something in a bad situation." It's good practice for optimizing. Haha.
Anyway, Enjoy the Download Here!
Have a good one,
-Jinroh

BLOOD GOG and Stuff!
By:
JinrohGood Afternoon!!
This is a tad late on my part, but I want to plug one of my favorite games, getting released on GOG.com this week.
That games is the cult BUILD Engine Classic, BLOOD, a great game that is set in a Cthulu-esque early 1900s story about cults and gods and lots of great Horror stuff. ^_^ It's a great FPS and one of my personal favorites. Go check it out!
On the new game front did some Walk Cycle animation today and yesterday as well as wrote some notes on re-doing J3D's PVS a tiny bit that will allow more efficient rendering.
Gotta run now! Have a good day!

Artwork and things.
By:
JinrohHello all. ^_^
I had to work like crazy today, but when I got home I had plenty of time to finish up some sprite artwork I have been doing for potentially our next game.
Now that I'm done it's back to J3D so we have something to play with these new sprites with ^o^
Have a good time,
Jinroh

'Morning!
By:
JinrohGood Morning!
Firstly our sympathies here at JinrohDev go out to Tom Hall and his family. For those that don't know he had a stroke 2 days ago, but is in good spirits and recovering. Get well soon Tom.
Next, today I added Solid Rendering back into J3D so it's progressing smoothly. My plan is to get all the features working on solid and then add texture mapping back in. This shouldn't take too long as I can re-use a lot of code from before.
That's about it for today, have a good day. ^_^

Good Afternoon!
By:
JinrohGood afternoon true believers!
Today was quite a productive day. J3D is back on track in full force. All the new rewrite math is finished. ^^
In other news Richie has done much work on his new websites, and I'm contemplating bringing back a Side Scroller Project I started over the summer. Richie has expressed wanting to do a Beat'em Up. So maybe that may be thrown to his court.
That's enough for now. Have a good day!

Quick Update.
By:
JinrohFor those of you hanging on the edge of your seats for an update here it is!
I've been working tirelessly working on the J3D re-write which is working but needs a little mathmagic to get it perfect.
On the Nik and Richie front things are in the works for two new websites by the duo. One is a complete revamp of Richie's band's website, Lashur the other is a secret, for now. ^^;
Be sure also to check out my awesome brother's web comic! Don't miss it! ^_^
Stay tuned,
Jinroh.
