Hey all!

I've uploaded a bunch of videos to my Youtube Account. That's where I guess I'll put all my videos from now on. I was going to put them on the site but I suppose they'll have more exposure.

Anyway, I put a bunch of old projects on there that you can check out including my great GBA ones. Hehe. I really need to do another project for the GBA. I really should do more work on Space Game. ^^ I should take a break one day from Inari3D and do something for it.

Anyway, you can check out all the new vids and such at: JinrohDev Youtube.

Enjoy!

Reboot!     By: Jinroh

Hi All

I had to take all the posts out of the database and we'll see if things are fixed. Anyway, here is the youtube vid for the fire effect I made last night.

I like how it turned out and it's nice that CamStudio let me record at a good framerate on my new lappy. ^_^

Stay tuned,
Jinroh.

Fire it up!     By: Jinroh

Hey all!

Quick update! Today I made a little fire emitter demo in JavaScript. I was doing research of how to code reasonably decent fire for my next game and I came up with this one. Once I put it in OpenGL with proper blending it'll look much better. It can also be affected by directional vectors for wind simulation but I just kept them all at 0 for the demo. ^_^

Enjoy!

Solution To Problems.     By: Jinroh

Hi All, My web host's tools have been glitchy lately. That's why all my news posts have sucked. T_T The program that provide to edit my SQL Databases has been terrible lately and not letting me do anything of use. My new posts haven't been showing up and everything.

So I'm going to have to code my own Post Manager so I can clean and keep track of my posts without having to rely on their buggy software. Expect the site to cleanup sometime this week.

Sorry for the inconveneince,
-Jinroh.

Normal Mapping Redux 2     By: Jinroh

Hi everyone I'll delete these last posts later, I'm getting ready for my first day at my new job! Yaay! I haven't been able to have time to fix the normal mapping post so here it is fixed and reposted. ^^ Have a good day!

Hi All, I just finished Normal Mapping into Inari3D last night. It looks great. ^^ It'll look even better when I take a shot of it with full lighting and everything. I'll talk a little about what normal mapping is though for those of you who aren't familiar. Normal Mapping is a form of Bump Mapping which basically adds detail where there is none.

Textures in a 3D game are just flat pictures. They may look detailed, but don't have any depth to them. Normal Maps are a special kind of texture that is overlayed onto the flat texture and give it the appearance of depth. Take a look at this screenshot for the comparison and you can see why Normal Mapping will definitely help the visuals of my Inari3D Engine. You can see the one using Normal Mapping looks much better like it is an actual brick wall whereas the one without normal mapping just looks pretty flat. My implementation should be supported by most video cards so you should have no problem running it on your system. ^^

Have a good week,
-Jinroh.

Small Update Again.     By: Jinroh

Hi all,

Small update. Just about done with putting real-time shadows back in my engine. All the code is coded, I just have to tweak it.

Things are all falling into place here for the next game. It's coming along nicely. Things will really pick up I hope, if I'm not to busy with job and baby, in the fall. Nik will be doing level design and Richie will be doing more soundtrack stuff. So between the three of us we'll be cooking pretty well. I'm adding in all the effects and stuff now for the engine that I want. So it should look pretty nice graphically.

On a side note, I put my 8.8 Fixed Point semi-broken math version of my Space Game for the GBA back up since I won't be working on it for a while due to the new game. ^_^ So if you wanna check out awesome GBA Glory go look at it!

Space Game

Other than that I'll keep you updated on all the news. I post on my Twitter more frequently than here, so if you're a nut about following our latest actions then check me out on there. ^_^

Have a great day,
-Jinroh

Small Update     By: Jinroh

Hi all, the Top 5 survival horror list has come to a close, but this week will start the Top 5 FPS games. ^_^

I'm still progressing very much on the game engine and it's almost time to start the game itself. I'm putting in Real-Time Shadows at the moment so it'll look even nicer than it does now.

Richie's been working on the soundtrack to the game too and it's coming along great. He's recently bought a new keyboard that supports MIDI out so we can have some sweet 80s synth effects in our soundtrack now. I'm really looking forward to hearing what he comes up with.

We're both really stoked about my engine, his soundtrack, and the upcoming game. I'll definitely be posting some screenshots of the engine soon, and trust me, you won't be disappointed. ^_^

Have a good day,
-Jinroh
